"The
trailer from the Walt Disney cartoon "Mickey's Trailer" has been recreated
in full size. This movie, where Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy are camping
in the mountains in a convertible trailer, is very well known to Swedish people,
since it has been aired on television every Christmas Eve since 1960. In order
to make the trailer come to life, this bedroom/bathroom had to be mechanized
with all sorts of magic solutions. The idea was to come as close to the original
as possible, always challenging the fact that it is a cartoon, in two dimensions,
where anything is possible. By focusing on one particular sequence of the movie,
you also get to really appreciate all the thoroughly drawn details and the 1930´s
aesthetics." (Text by Anna

As
a life-size installation, the trailer is a challenge because of the weights,
speed and momentum involved. Basing the machinery on pneumatics was the only
way to achieve a reliable result at a reasonable price in a short time-lapse.
